It is this exact verbage that keeps me now from joining... I cannot KNOWINGLY sign against my integrity, for I believe NAR is not the final, nor only, authority on all activities in "Sport Rocketry" as they define it.

It is frustrating indeed, that they make two-faced statements such as this, and cause many joiners to damage their integrity in the process. The statement DOES NOT say, "only at NAR sanctioned events".

I cannot rejoin until this is corrected, for I must *at least* be true to myself.

Hmmmm.... I've engaged in (and openly posted about) activities completely outside the scope of the NAR safety code - but I consider these to be "amateur rocketry" rather than "sport rocketry" activities. The NAR seems to believe in a strict distinction, and they haven't asked me to sign any pledges about my "amateur rocketry" activities...

Methinks you protest too much.

Ever flown around tall trees? If so, you have also violated your "sacred oath".

Now, just define "tall tree" and we can work on your punishment...

Methinks that an honest statement whereto they ask thousand to affix there seal needs making.

No, but I have killed chickens before. Tastes like chicken.

Well, however you gets your jollies, then.

But were they "tall" chickens?

Truth to hard to bear, Joel? To hard to say even, "oops, my bad" or, "ok, you got me there" or, "didn't know that" or, (etc.).

Instead you make a personal attack, just because I don't wish to sign up to something I know is false right on the line? Your loss. NAR's too. Pitty...

That is about as likely as NAR changing the phrase to fit the current era, not their monopolized past.

And Dave, it is an interesting angle indeed, but unfortunately does not cover all angles, as I am involved in all types of rocketry. My integrity is worth more than membership in the NAR. I can support good causes without signing something I know is false.

What I find about you Joel and several others here is you like to post conclusions without basis. You like to decide who is winning or losing an arguement in your opinion without actually engaging the arguement itself.

You are like the media who has many hours of coverage about polls (the horse race and all its minute details), but never once takes the time to say with any clarity or completeness what the candidates positions are on the issues themselves, even though it would take far less time and be far more informative. I think they are afraid they might lose the attention of some viewers and therefore attention to their commercial advertisers who pay for their salaries and mansions and luxury cars.

It is mentally unchallenging as compared to addressing the actual issue or arguement. He may actually be that intellectually vacant. You should pity him.

Delusions are hard to bear. I didn't see you post you're wrong, or Ok, but I've had to start skimming those ramblings. Did I might have missed it.

Just because NAR doesn't want you to claim insurance when violating the safety code. I wouldn't file a claim when making motors. No loss to me,

CYa.

I suggest that you cross out and rewrite the pledge to your liking, and sign it with the changes initialized, then submit the application form with dues. This will be a louder political statement than rantings on RMR and force HQ and the BOT to deal with the issue.
