Airfix Canberra Question

What is exactly is wrong with the nose of the kit?. I think I have the Aeroclub correction set but it only gives the clear nose parts is this right?

Are you getting a bit confused?

I think the confusion is regarding the Aeroclub nose to convert the Airfix B57 Canberra to an RAF type nose ( B2 or similar ) as opposed to the Aeroclub canopy for the original Airfix RAF Canberra kit

Rory, The original Airfix B6 Canberra nose was incorrectly shaped also. The line from the canopy to the nose was too straight and gave a strange look to the front end. The solution is the same - use one of the available Aeroclub conversion/correction sets. You could true up the profile with filler as in the old days :), but Aeroclub include much better vac-formed clear parts too. Hope this helps Chek

It sounds like you have the replacement canopy set that Aeroclub do (ABC009); you want the correction set that replaces the whole front of the fuselage (ABK72801), or the vacform set that replaces the whole fuselage (not sure the kit number as Hannants don't stock it at the moment, but it may be available from Aeroclub direct) if you don't want to have to sort out the seam between the fuselage and the new nose (not sure if the nose was designed for the Airfix or the Frog kit, but being short run the diameter of the nose may not exactly match the diameter of the fuselage). ABK72801 has the two nose halves, cockpit floor, instrument panel and bulkheads in short run injection moulded plastic and a white metal ejection seat, plus the replacement canopies. The problem with the Airfix kit is that the nose doesn't taper enough forward of the cockpit; therefore the diameter of the nose glazing is way too large.

This is what I want to know. IIRC there is a problem with the shape of the nose of the B (1)6 Canberra but what it is I am not sure. I also remember ther being a correction set for it and it is that kit which I thought I had bought but all that is in it is the nose cone and the canopy.
