Best Kit Manufacturer ?

Same thing, except when they changed their name to Merlin the quality got progresively worse. They also used the name Valhala toward the end of their reign of terror.

Roden started as Toko. Their quality improved as they gained experience. The reason that I like them best is a combination of subject matter, quality and price. They are a good example of a company that doesn't have to rape your wallet to give you a nice kit.

Really? I was unaware of the link....

Hmmmm...did they *really* get worse, than this Veeday Yak-15, I am at this moment fondling, out of nostalgia? Interesting, it seems to be made from some obscure, vegetable-ish plastic, with is turnip-ish color....

(Perhaps...a solution to the questions posed by the "oil shortage" thread...lol)

Yes and no.

Most of the Merln range were hideous, but there were a few really nice kits, too.

Their Kaman HOK-1 had to have been one of the worst kits ever produced. I also gave up on their TSR-2 and gave it to a friend who worked on it for awhile then threw it away.

I did their Breguet Br.14 and it was difficult, but a great fnished model.

Pegasus also has a Veeday connection. He was once Veeday's mold and/or master maker. He learned very quickly how not to do it and I like many of his products.

BTW, the Veeday/Merlin owner onced threatened to sue me if I ever published another review of his products. His reputation was pretty bad.

Not to mention a multitude of decal options with most of their kits. The DVII set has me scrounging for the ESCI and Revell kits for slammers. Cheers,

Well, it depends on the type of kits. For boat, the French planes and the military materials (especially in the new range in 1/72 scale) : Heller.

I like also Revell who proposes a range of very beautiful models with prices relatively low.

Naturally, there is also Hasegawa and Tamiya, but for Tamiya if I appreciate the precision of assembly, I love less details "invented" or found only on certain planes preserved in museums and restored in a way which does not correspond to the original plane.

ICM had very good russian planes, but I don't know the new range...

Airfix ? A lot of kits are common with Heller...
