Hawk Missile Battery: Scale?

Question

I reckon this one is for Al. I have a Hawk Missile Battery in a Revell History Makers Box. The box says 1/32. On eBay I see Hawk Missile Batteries and the tracked and helicopter missile transporters in Life Like as 1/40 and Renwal as 1/32. Were there two different molds? Which do I really have?

PS Al, I think your column in Internet Modeler is the most fun thing I read (model related) on the net each month, I really look forward to it.

Also anyone have the tracked and/or the helicopter transports they'd like to sell. This is another one I remember vaguely from childhood that I'd like to have another go at.

Yes. The 1/40 scale kit was released by Adams, SNAP, Revell, and Life-Like, and probably others as well.

The History Makers kits was from the Renwal 1/32 scale tooling.

I'll see what I can do but I doubt I'll ever cover the German a/csince I don't have any.     Renwal did a military tow truck but that's it AFAIK - they nevereven did the humble and ubiquitous Jeep.

Revell or Adams (the molds were cut by the same folks) made a 1/40 scale Hawk battery, which eventually became the Lifelike molds after going through several sets of hands. Adams (later SNAP) made the YH-41 Cessna missile transporter.

The other Hawk is 1/32 scale and ex-Renwal.

Since Revell also made a 1/40 scale Jeep and M20 armored utility car, plus a not-so-hot M35 2 1/2 ton, if you could find the 1/40 scale ones you could do up a diorama.

's a real perfectionist, so he replaced over half the kit parts, and scratchbuilt the transporter loaders. Even if you aren't that ambitious, the article has lots of useful details. The Adams/Snap/Lifelike kit was in the smaller 1/40th scale, but included more support equipment. Gerald Owens
