Hobby Boss 1/72 Wildcats question.

These are the EZ kits. Bought an F4F-4 just for fun, supposed to be a fast build and paint. Managed to lose most of the clear bits DOH!

Since they come with 2 complete sets of clear bits I thought I'd just buy another. I see listed:

F4F-3 F4F-4 FM-1 FM-2

Presemably they are all the same except for decals and paint instructions. So I could buy whatever was available. I know the real -3 had the hard wing and the FMs were larger. Did HB go all the way or not?

TIA! Frank

The only one I've bought was a -3. It had the folding wing etc of a

-4. My favorite Wildcat builds have been to take the old Hawk kit, open up the landing gear, and scratchbuild the gear and an interior. For it's time it had nice, relatively subdued engraving.

Well that answers that question.

I'm doing all my Hawks gear up on the stand.

I got a pile of them cheap. 50 cents or maybe a dollar each, bagged, no instructions or decals. I've done almost every variation except the wildcatfish.

Would that mean, perchance, that you might have a spare belly window and either a full canopy or just the sliding canopy from a two piece that you might be willing to donate to the "Save My Wildcat" Pledge drive?

I'll Email off list.

Frank
