Looking for a 1/48 scale WW-II ambulance

I normally don't do vehicles but am thinking of an aircraft mini-diorama with a shot-up WW-II US aircraft (will probably be a B-17 but haven't decided, based on the space that will be available to display it) on the airfield with a typical WW-II ambulance beside it. Does anyone know it this ambulance available in 1/48 scale?

FM makes an excellent, if very spendy, resin Dodge ambulance kit.

A photo is available on the Pacific Coast Models catalog.

Look under "FM details"

Other than that, you might consider converting the old Bandai Willys jeep kit to an ambulance configuration.

1/48 is not particularly well served in the military vehicle department.

If you go the jeep route (much, much cheaper) these guys:

still have some Frog jeeps in stock (reissues of the Bandai molds) for 4.99 UK pounds, which is generally cheaper than ebay.

Ah, Bill.

Don't know if you got a little time. Im just finishing the masters for a 1/48th Dodge WC54. Resin/little white metal/little PE kit. But it's gonna take some months to get it on the market. Price is gonna be way below Fonderie Miniatures.

Thought I'd let you know.

And some more 1/48 ambulances:

These are lovely models but expensive:

A WC54 Signal Corps version (would need converting but is cheaper than FM):

Thanks again to all who responded to my query. I have a couple of the Bandai 1/48 scale kits; I bought a stack of about 5-6 of them when the Washington DC Squadron Shop was closing several years ago. I'd thought of converting one of these to an ambulance jeep. However, all the photos I've seen of ambulances on US airfields in England were of the Dodge truck-type so I'll probably go with that one. I have no particular deadline for this project so time is not a factor and I can wait to see what Dennis comes up with as well before starting the diorama.

Hi JimboD,

Mind you the model is still in development (although 85% of masters, etchings and decals are finished) and website is not up yet. Date of issue and price are yet unknown.

All of you who are interested, you can drop me an e-mail at: t3mmodels@hotmail dot com

I'll keep you informed then.

Cheers,
