Obviously way OT -- Re: Illegal Immigration, the Non-Issue of the Week??????????????

Gunfire? As in shooting them? Why not just speak with your vote. If the majority of constituents feel that their elected official is not conducting their business (yes, their business not the elected official's business), in a manner they approve of then, by rights, that elected official should be gone by way of the ballot box with the next election, shouldn't they?

It would be nice if we could just vote them out. Many have 2 or more years left, including the president who seems to be more interested in supporting illegals than listening to the voters who put him in office (:<

Not true. There is a process for voting poor performing politicians out of office between regular elections; much better than a firearm. Further, it's legal as opposed to hauling out a gun; that's how they remove politicians in Latin America where many of our illegal immigrants come from. It's called a recall (in some venues an impeachment) and it is designed for just such purposes. If the majority of constituents are unhappy with the performance of an elected official, they can circulate a petition for recall. If it gets the required number of signatures, it can launch a recall election. That is where you speak with your vote. Hell, has even worked in California and, God knows, if it can work there, it can work anywhere!

If the recall petition fails to get the required number of signatures or the politician survives the recall election, I guess the majority is still happy with said politician's performance and you just have to grit your teeth and wait for the next regular election. In either case, if you, the individual, feel that strongly about the issue, it is incumbent on you the citizen, get off the couch, get out, and bust your buns to convince the other constituents why the poor performing politician should go. If you've done a good job, perhaps it will go your way. That's how things work in the USA. OK, enough of Civics 101 and enough of this issue for me.

Virginia has no provision for recall of federal level elected officials. I know because I tried a while ago.

And I am nto saying that I endorse or suggest violent action.

I am simply making an observation. Watching criminal non citizens march with no legal repurcusions and make demands of elected officials who then cave to the demands makes me believe that that is the course we are on.

Problem solving can start at home.

Our local community college is chartered to, among other things, prepare students for transfer to a four year school after two years of accredited courses. It has recently been exposed through the media that the offered courses are not capable of meeting this guideline. The board has known this and has hidden it from the taxpayers for several years now.

The next election should be interesting. It appears that the entire board shall be replaced, at least those that don't bail before then. Lawsuits are also in the wind and there may even be criminal charges.

It does not seem important when compared to national politics, but we have to start somewhere to get this country back from the stupidity that currently permeates every area of life in the United States. There are many things that individual citizens can do to turn things around, from buying American-made products whenever possible to getting involved with candidates and issues that mean something to you.

By the way, to get back to on topic configuration, how many model companies manufacture their product in the U.S.? How many magazines and books meaningful to our hobby are published here?

Interesting...what state is this happening in, and how to you go about electing the Board of your Comunity College?

Our local sucks, and it seems like there's nothing we can do about it...

I don't like the immigration marches either. However, those among the mobs of protestors who are legal US citizens have every right to protest. Those who are here illegally have no right to protest and should be rounded up by INS and given a free ride back home. I'm reminded of a short talk given in

1907 and it goes like this:

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Another enormous misgiving that I have. I have just one question of any spending: Is it authorized in the Constitution? I don't think much of what goes through Congress and the President would really pass Constitutional muster were it given an unbiased and strict interpetation examination.

FWIW They have the right, but if they are citizens what is their reason?? And as for those strutting around waving the flags of their "old country", I say if it means so much to them they should pack up and go back!

Bill Shuey Of French descent, but there ain't a French flag in the house!

I hear ya', Bill. That's the great Catch 22, isn't it? I'm also on board re. the flag one. The quote from Teddy Roosevelt that I posted the other day, pretty well sums it up for me.
