Old Revell F-111 the only kit?

Not to mention the old Monogram kit that was an update to the Aurora kit. Also the Academy knockoffs by Trumpeter, Zhengdefu, Kitech, and possibly Hobbycraft. Cheers, Max Bryant

I probably did 3 or 4. Still have 2, one in SEA camo & one as a USN F-111B. I also built a couple of the Airfix/MPC ones, too. Those were the days!

The old Revell F-111A/B was one of the first kits I ever built back in the late '60s and one of my first "loves" as far as real aircraft are concerned.

I finally got a 1/1 scale '111 when I became the "Crew Chief" for the FB-111A (s/n 80287) on display at the Wings Over The Rockies Museum in Denver on the former Lowry AFB. Being a Crew Chief means being the "authority" on your aircraft and doing all of the cleaning, maintenance, history/record keeping, and helping develop supporting display materials such as information placards. Because of that first connection I made with the F-111 as a kid, I really had a "feel" for it when I finally got a real one. It's hard to explain, but because I had built several F-111 models, I pretty much knew every component, line, and marking of the aircraft.

One of the things I tell the museum staff and visitors: If you want to really understand a particular airplane, build a model of it.

I know a guy who is ex-Navy. He'd rather not think of F-111s. They upset him terribly. I've got about a half dozen here and they're almost all Revell's kit. One Airfix is done in the prototype (or FSD?) scheme. I've converted Revell's into FB-111A, EF-111A and built them OOB as F-111C and B. The other Airfix was done as an F-111E OOB. I must like them a little.
