I'm working on Hasegawa's 1/48 scale F8 Crusader. How do you paint the soft line between the underneath gloss white and topside gray? I've only modeled solid colour or hard-edge paint schemes aircraft until now. Help...

Assuming you're using an airbrush or a spray can, there's a couple of ways to do that. You might try putting some plain old sewing thread (soaked in white glue, ie Elmer's) along your demarcation line. Then using masking take, mask off the area you don't want to paint and spray. You want to make sure you spray AWAY from the line. This should give you a soft edge. If you want a softer edge, use something else to lift your masking a little farther away from the surface to be painted. I've done this using Parafilm-M, rolled into "threads" and used it to mask the already painted area and it came out pretty well, too. If you're brush painting, I don't see any way to get a good, soft demarcation line=85

I'm still trying to figure it out. How well do acrylics stick to meat? Or can I digest plastic? Do I play with it or eat it?

It may not be necesary to have a soft demarcation line. I have seen a number of USN aircraft where the line is so tight that it would be a hard line in 1/48 scale.

...naw...just laying low. Getting ready for a trip to the east coast, with a stop through Chi-ville to see my folks.

Been having a down few weeks...just plain low on energy. No such thing as "enough sleep" for me these days. Gut's doing pretty well, but no energy...seriously fatigued.

Thanks Don for the reply. I should have mentioned that I'm using an air brush.

I've been experimenting with my diet, and trying to keep up with folks when I shouldn't...that's got me run down. My meds keep me in a state of insomnia, too...that don't help either.

Got my Crohn's under control, though. Everybody says that this chronic fatigue is all part of it. I'm going to watch how I feel this winter and try to see if I feel any better in less heat...if so, I may give more serious thought to moving out of the desert. At least out of this desert...

I ate everything they gave me after I got out of the hospital, and I think I flushed all my surplus after about a year...I had quite a stash going. They were trying all sorts of stuff on me - mostly to try and get me some sleep. I'm convinced that the way anti-depressants work are to produce so much pain that you forget about everything else...I had one of the most severe migraines I've ever had for 18 hours on just half of one of those...Trazadone, if I recall.

This might sound odd, but pain killers never give me a buzz. I don't even know what a "buzz" feels like. I'm on naproxin right now (for bone spurs) which is nothing, but even when I was on vicodin a few years ago...nothing. Took away the pain, that's it. If I was tired I got sleepy, otherwise I was fine. And most OTC meds make me hyper...

that really sucks. remember, if you ever need help, i ain't far away. i nice bikeride, if i remember. ambien cr works well with pain killers. just heed the cautions.

...you're lucky, IMO. Other than the "hyper" thing.

I gal I know just had some major and extensive surgery - she doesn't respond well to anesthesia or pain killers...she's seriously hurtin' right now.

I've tried Ambien, Ambien CR, Lunestra, Trazadone, and a few other things...the Trazadone just blew my head off, Lunestra just made me giggle about nothing all night long, and the Ambiens just plain quit working after three doses. The Ambien CR was the best stuff - I was really bummed when it quit working. I haven't tried it since I've been on Colazal, though...think I still have some...

Funny...a lot of stuff I used to take just plain doesn't work anymore. Gotta be because of my "modified" gut. I got some scar tissue in there, so I'm told.
