Don't know about Monogram, you ARE talking about the Offenhouse front engine, right? It was around that time period, along with the "midget racer", maybe as early as '54 and among Monogram's earliest kits.

Aurora also had some vintage Indy winners from the 1920s on. I think that they might have had an Offy as well.

Monogram's Indy Roadster is a fair (pretty darned good for the era in which it was done) replica of a 1955 Kurtis-Kraft KK500C roadster. Specifically, Monogram worked, it appears, off the Ed Walsh Roadster out of St. Louis Missouri.

The kit was first issued in 1955, and through various iterations, was in continuous production through 1974. Last reissued in 1987.
