Revell 1/47 Mig-25 Foxbat PD?

Hi All,

Jusy wondering if anyone has built this kit as my girlfriend bought me one (yes, bought me, this could be the start of a great relationship, just got to get her educated on the kits I want, like the Trumpeter Wellington when/if it arrives) for Easter.

Having had a quick glance it looks like a old moulding due to the raised detail, but nice and crisp and large. The decals state 2004, but can't view other dates?

Also, any cockpit detail sets, as its a bit sparce with basic seat and transfers for instruments, maybe missile set as well. I done a quick Google search but that turned up mainly 1/72 offerrings.

Many thanks in advance, Stephen

Did Revell finally reissue the big beast? Damn, 25 bucks down da eBay drain... First of all, there are no aftermarket details available AFAIK. I used the cockpit, seat and instrument panel of an Academy MiG-21MF (actually a bis) that had received a resin replacement in turn. Vertical sidewalls got some spare etched brass, too. Very few adjustments were necessary. You may want to skip buying the Academy MiG-21 and simply get a resin cockpit for a late Fishbed. It surely will do the part, but resin may be a bit trickier to fit into the fuselage. A Flogger cockpit (fighter version) is even closer, but there's no 1/48 set for it...

Happy rescribing!

Hi Bonehammer,

Thanks for the tips on using the Mig-21 detail sets and I'll look into it, though my mate says there will sets on the way. He also provided the following links which look quite promising:

on building it

and this for drawings.

As for rescribing, maybe in a few years I'll have a go but just want to get in the habit of building kits right and airbrushing techniques, now that I have some room in my flat.

I even competed 4 projects last year, 1 tamiya 1/700 Japanese destroyer, 1 Dragon mig-15, and 2 tanks, Dragon JS-2m and the Trumpeter AS-90 which was a very nice kit.

Cheers, Stephen

There is a thread over at HyperScale today titled "Revell MiG 25 - Who had some weeks" that talks about the different aftermarket stuff that is going to be coming soon for this kit along with what needs to be done to make it accurate, some very good info

Thanks for the Hyperscale reference Jim, I keep forgetting to go there and have now printed out relative details, just have to wait on resin/brass arriving.

Cheers, Stephen
