Buckingham Palace reports that if he wins the Triple Crown, Smarty Jones will be eligible for the O.B.E., while rumors of knighthood have not been ruled out.
Smarty's greatest concern, as reported by his trainer, John Servis, is not about winning the Triple Crown, but for his two housecats, Yum Yum, and Buzzer, who he has not seen since coming to Belmont racetrack nine days ago. "Smarty's afraid that the cats won't be able to sleep without him," Servis said. "That's a horse with a heart."
Over two dozen women have offered proposals of marriage to Smarty Jones, with more expected if he wins today's race.
