Super Bowl Modeling Plans ??

I pl;an to do lots of sub assembly work while the game is on. The RevMo Devastator and Do335 on in the lineup as well as a Tamiya Stuart. A great time to do seam work on figures as well. I look up every now and then to see what the score is and check out the commercials...

For me it will be the Hasegawa 1/48 F 16C Block 30 with Aries cockpit and some other add ons. At least I'm taking pic's through this build. Right now there has been a lot of plastic and resin grinding going on and a base coat of cockpit color. Still a long ways to go.........

None of my favorite, or least favorite, teams are in it, so I don't care who wins or loses. I probably will be watching the Military Channels during the game.

If it's Sunday I'll be here listening to WOGL "Streetcorner Sunday." Doo doo, dooby doo....

Instead I'll likely be busy painting parts for my HB LVTP-7, DML Ersatz M-10 and PzTrWg 51.

Looks to me like the PanzerTriebwagon 51 has a cupola dead center, and perhaps vision blocks? I think I'm going to find a replacement cupola that has actual vision blocks, rather than deal with the molded lumps that I suspect are supposed to represent vision blocks.

My Model Expo portable painting booths arrived today, so I'll be giving one of them a whirl. Hopefully I can now start painting indoors, rather than in my (blazing hot in the summer) garage.

Why are you modelling in a big bowl?

RobG (The Aussie > I pl;an to do lots of sub assembly work while the game is on. The

Makes it easier to find tiny parts when they get dropped.

That's ~another~ thing that I miss from walking the streets of Philly back in the day.... There was a group of four guys that hung out in the courtyard of the city hall and sang so sweetly in the evenings. Stallone even paid homage to this kind of group in the first "Rocky".

I'd sure like to know the *bounce factor* of carpet.

I dropped the instrument panel for my F 16 (an unpainted PE part) and it took a hour to find it. Though it dropped right between my feet, it traveled almost three feet sideways !! Sheesh, I almost couldn't believe it...

I took to avoiding modeling on carpet for that very reason.

Now days, when I drop something small, I shine a flashlight right down along the floor. Any small parts cast a long, easily seen shadow.

Cheers, Dave

The fuzzy bath carpets are the best. Parts don't bounce. Avoid berber and shag rugs.

Same here. Now, the real question is, what will we be building when the Daytona 500 is on? :-)

3 Hours of Left Turns ???

It's called toilet bowl racing....

Yeah, but... do you watch to see which turd goes down the drain first? :-)

No, I only watched F 1.

And even then, I gave up after 917's faded away....

I do have two nice 917 kit's tho. One resin and one plastic :) (also have a Gunzye Sangyo Ferrari 250 GTO)

917's were always my favorite race cars.

always was curious about the Tamiya John Player Special kit in the

70's. too young to know what the sponsor was, but the kit looked like fun...but I stayed with tanks instead.

Player is a cigarette company - like a lot of the sponsors were at the time.

I've built two of those - I have one of the 1/12 JPS 72D kits in my stash now, and a partially completed Mk.III. The Tamiya F1 kits are the best...even for Tamiya, IMO. The I have a number of the 1/20 ones too - including another Mk.III. I'm a Lotus fan.

...but the grail of the big Tamiya cars was/is the Lola T-70 Mk.III...MAN, was that a kit! I did one of those as a teen, too. Wish I could get my hands on another one. And another of the first two 1/12 McLaren releases.

I was stationed in Gibralter for a couple of days back in the 50s. Got to smoke a couple of Player's cigs. They were terrible. Snooker was fun to learn though.

I LOVE Player Navy Cut !! (non filtered) I'm forced to smoke Came non filters now, the navy cut is just too hard to find around here

I also have a Hase Jaguar in Players mkg's.
