Good bet it was most likely Gauge 1 track (1/32 scale) or possibly fitted to LGB track (which varies from 1/29 to 1/22.5 based on who made the equipment.)
DML did the same with their 1/144 guns -- they're gauged for N gauge (9mm track) rather than 1/1444 (10mm gauge).
