I have an early production kit - whcih if I remember correctly had wheel bases scalled for 1/32 instead of 1/35th so it would run on a standard track. I read someplace the kit was reworked so the wheel base is now

I noticed that Trumpeter has a 1/35 scale track kit available now - not sure what rail you planned to use, but as long as the Leopold is scaled properly I'd think you could just rework the axles to the proper track guage...and use Trumpeters track kit and diesel.
Sounds like a basic problem in who fudged which measurments. Gauge 1 track (nominal 1/32 scale as well as the track used by most of the LGB stuff) is 45mm gauge; true 1/32 is about 46.4mm and true 1/35 scale is
42.4mm.What is the gauge (tread to tread distance) of the diesel wheels?

The Perth Miniature site show the difference between the Trumpeter Leopold and the Dragon Karl track sections.The Trumpeter track is wider. They then show another trumpeter against Dragon and they match. There are two schools of thought on the net. 1)Trumpeter used Russian gage by mistake or 2 Trumpeter was catering to the 1./32nd model rail guys who could use it on their layout. My bet is the diesel is back to normal 1/35th,
I recall some-place that Trumpeter corrected this in later releases - problem is I have a Leopold that I could disply alone - but would like one to go with the diesel - but don't want two that are wrong.
