Trumpeter Wildcat

I was in the hobby store and saw that Trumpeter has released their 1/32nd Wildcat. Anyone hear anything about them...good, bad, or indifferent?

TIA,

Raymond

This is the old kit. Squadron refused to carry it until they fixed the outline, and more recent review from this website shows that they did. I don't think the old kit was ever in the shops here in the US.

Thomas:

Good question for all the people thinking about a buy, how do you tell the difference between the old kit and the corrected kit> The box sitting on the shelf in shrink wrap is going to look the same, isn't it?

I was under the impression that the original release had been recalled. I just bought one of the new ones yesterday and, since the box was already opened for display, there was no doubt that it was the new kit. I don't know if there are any marks on the box or shrink wrap to indicate the "new" kit.

Likely you will not find the "old" ones. I believe that what made it to Stevens (the importer) wound up going back for corrections. However the ones I got in this week where not Shrink wrapped but had sealing tape on the four sides. Inside you will see correction sheets in the plastic bags. Not sure? Ask your shop when they got these and to open box at counter to look for changes. I sold the last in my shop this Saturday for $44.95 each.

Lol....

He's probably one of the best pilots I've ever seen (over 19,000 hours !! I've flown with him, he IS very good) and the worst, nastiest businessman I've even known. He is unique no question !! The origional shady charichter.............

I'll never forget what he told me once.

"I want to go out of this world owing other people at least 500,000 dollars, than I'll be happy" (his own words here)

That sums up Buzz in a nutshell......................

Hmmph! I never knew any of this and I'm pretty sure all of my cronies in the club wouldn't, either.

Now we're getting to the Buzz I know and love...

Still, he's like the cancre sore you can't leave be... The scab you must pick. Years ago, I bought a 1/32 Revell FW190 from him; broken prop. I swore him off then. A couple years later, I bought a Monogram A-4 from him; seat missing... "Fool me once", etc.... At SyrCON, a buddy of mine won a raffle prize - a Monogram B-17G donated by Buzz; no decals... So, count us in about $8.95 of his $500K. At least he's consistant!

As long as you dont have any business dealings with him ,he is a great guy. An excellent pilot. He flew A 1's during VN, then trained AF pilots in the A 1, and flew the the SAR missions with the AF. He now flies transport A/C almost exclusively.

He ripped me off once, I ripped him off right back, we seemed to get along real well after that :) He did help me out a few times too !

But he did get me back into modeling again in 1992, and he did have some very unuusal stuff in his store before he ran it into the ground. But thats another LONG story....................... (the original Air Land & Sea sign is 5' feet from me now as I type :)

In an odd way, I do like him a lot tho

BTW, do you live in No. VA ??? If so, I think we have met quite a few times before My name is Allan Mayer. Last time would have been at Granddad's If not, sorry.
