U.S. 3" M5 anti-tank gun

Has anyone ever seen a kit of the WWII U.S. 3" M5 anti-tank gun?

The M5 is the one built on the 105mm howitzer carriage, has the angled shields and is still used by the Presidential Salute Battery of the Old Guard in Washington. You've probably seen them on the news at state events and Arlington funerals.

Also, has anyone seen these DEWATS at places like veterans' posts, parks or cemeteries? There seem to be many of these in the mid-west... I've seen them all over Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Pennsylvania; but interestingly nobody knows where they came from. I suspect some sort of post war program existed to replace some of the Civil War pieces that were lost to scrap metal drives during the war. Because the Old Guard's actually belong to the Smithsonian (and not the army) I wouldn't doubt they were involved in the giveaway, but that remains to be researched.

Please let me know if you know any details.

Thanks,

Scott

There are a couple of resin conversion kits for the Italeri M101A1 105mm howitzer kit. One makes the M5 and the other the M6, which is mostly a barrel swap. Not sure (a) who makes them and (b) if they are still available, as most resin kits have short runs.

Warriors (VLS) may have picked them up - VLS/Wariors seems to have released a lot of ex-KMC conversions.
