Batch changes to Part Custom Properties

Apr 11, 2006 4 Replies

I have to add a new custom property to a large number of part files:

Property Name Type Value / Text Expression Mass text " snipped-for-privacy@2206-701194-000.SLDPRT"

Where 2206-701194-000.SLDPRT is the file name of the file currently being operated on.

I thought that SolidWorks Task Scheduler would do this but I can't find the method that will do this.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mark

Perhaps Propagator at

would work better?

I would recommend looking over

formatting link
to find some useful macros that may be able to do this for you. I think FixProperties might do the trick, though I haven't used this for myself.

You can try SWie, download it from

formatting link
-> SolidWorks. It's an Excel-sheet that can add/modify attributes for parts and assys, so you can modify it yourself if needed

As far as I know it does not matter what the filename is in the string mentioned above. You could use eg. snipped-for-privacy@foo.slprt for each part - if it makes it any easier.
