I have a BOM customized so that it brings in surface area, the problem I am having with this is, if I use configurations the surface area figure should change but it only gives me the surface area of the default part.... anyone know the workaround? or is this possible?

you need to specify the config, use the following format; surface area@@config@model

I also found that after I removed my head from my arse, that if I set a configuration specific value for surface area it finds itself to the BOM.
