Getting part from assembly

Nov 08, 2007 3 Replies

I have an assembly which shows various part that are not resolved. Some of the part files I have lost due to a computer crash. When the assembly starts to come up, it says it cannot find these part, would I like to find them myself. Well they are gone, or maybe not. Is there anyway of getting the part back? It shows in the assembly (lightweight feather), but I cannot resolve. IS THE INFO FOR THE PART SOMEPLACE WHERE I MIGHT BE ABLE TO FIND IT, or is it lost?

Thanks for any help

The information for the parts that is stored in the assembly is just enough to draw the pixels on the screen, not the "real" information needed to build the part, the feature tree. You need to find the real data, by finding a backup or recovering your crashed disk.

Well... from the info...looks like you're SOL!... but... try this...

See if by chance you still have some of the data in your "SWBackupDirectory"

C:/SWBackupDirectory

Otherwise,.. what could have happened during the crash is the system wrote some hidden files and they may still be on your harddrive?

There are some data recovering programs which may help get the data but... again,.. usually it's wishfull thinking because of the corrupt occuring during the write while crashing.

Here's a recovering program which may work...

Good luck!

I'm not sure if this is what you are asking for, but if you right-click on the component and select component properties, it should tell you its file path/name.
