inserting a dimention into a note so it updates?

I am Inserting a hole callout and I want to put the bolt circle dia in the call out so that if the B.C. dia changes it will change in the hole callout. Is this possible?

Thanks

Nathan

You will have to abandon the hole callout and create the whole thing from scratch using a note. Place the note, then double-click on the required dimensions to link them into the note.

You could keep the hole callout, and create the BC callout as a note, then just place the note next to the hole callout.

This may be considered bass ackwards but what we do is:

  1. In the model, dislplay dimensions.
  2. Create a note in the model and click on the desired dimension rather than typing anything in.
  3. Copy the resulting info to the clipboard.
  4. Delete the note in the model if desired.
  5. In the drawing note, paste the dimension data in the desired place.

In our never ending quest for optimal model/drawing associativity, we also are using this method for sheet metal bend angles, slot dimensions and material thicknesses for the material callout in our title blocks.

Interesting. I had fooled around with building notes in the model, but I had always left them there and imported them into the drawing views. Your way sounds much cleaner. Except the part about showing all the model dimensions.

Right.
