Low budget upgrade to my PC

My boss, locally known as the combined embodiment of Fagan, Scrooge and Shylock, has finally aquiesced to a limited upgrade of my PC which currently does about 150 seconds in the ship in a bottle test. In a recent design review he complained that it took too long to make a cross section, and I jumped on his ass and demanded a faster box. So he's given me $700 to do the job. Someday we may even upgrade from 2004 0.0

--- Naaah.

So I thought the following would be sufficient:

Mobo - MSI K8T NEO FSR $69 for socket 754 Processor - AMD Athlon 3200+ $179 Memory - 1G Mushkin DDR $219 Graphics - PNY NVidia Quadro FX500 $203.50 Power Supply - Antec ATX 12V $38

Prices are from newegg.com.

This is based on a PC I built for home last summer which works very well with Solid it hurts so bad Works.

Does anyone have any suggestions for improvements within the $700 limit? The tin box and peripherals will stay the same.

That looks pretty well balanced system. Is there any chance of squeezing a newer HD in there? What are you currently running?

good ol' bob z. would kill to have a boss that would allow him to have the luxury of spec'ing his own components EVEN WITH a budget of $700. bob z's brand new (less than 6 months) Dell just kicked the bucket. yes, good ol' bob z. hit the power button wednesday morning and out came the magic smoke. it puffed it's last puff of magic smoke.

NEVER BUY A DELL.

bob z. used to tell people that dell was fine for home use. never will bob z. ever preach that nonsense ever again.

bob z. p.s. never f__k with another man's car. it is just off-limits.

Bob,

Like most companies these days always looking for ways to cut costs and at the expense of quality. I own a DELL (going on two years old) and still ticking away. Sorry to hear your experience was not so good. Didn't the manual explain the tower cannot support the weight of a beer keg and large bowl of party mix!
