SP3 Sheet Format issue could someone please replicate

Apr 24, 2005 8 Replies

Hi

Just modified a sheet format. Tried to save sheet format -- either crash to desktop or states "Could Not save file"

I have sent RX file off to VAR- but would like someone else to replicate

---just to prove I'm not insane.

This is error is critical to me, I'm a contractor and need to be able to be able to create different sheet formats regularly.

Regards John Layne

Ok ---- I'm off to buy white coat with arms that lace up at the back. Or maybe design myself a little padded room.

maybe you are trying to 'save as' the wrong type?

....I have a trebuchet available that I use for self improvement...if you stuff the white coat with the padding from the room you should be fine for 3 or 4 landings... ;o)

Works ok here!

I think Solidworks should supply counselling under it's subscription fee, lol

But seriously this SP has solved a lot of problems for me. Try saving the sheet format to anther location, such as your temp file or another HD. One thing that has always caused me problems, is changing the sheet formats, after working with Solidworks for a while. The best time to change sheet formats, is after, clearing the Temp file, (Run, %temp%), and a fresh re-boot.

So now, you can have my white gown, with laces up the back, and sleeves stitched up at the ends. I'm Freeeeeeeeeeee...............lol

Hi John,

I had this trouble a while back. Tho' not on EV service pack. One thing I did while I was rumaging around in the options dialog seemed to fix it. Under File locations/sheet formats I had 2 entries, my location for my stuff & the standard location put in by solidworks that was below. I removed the std swx location. This may or may not have cured it, as I broke the golden rule and changed a few things all at the same time.

My VAR just got back to me after SolidWorks figured it out-- I have save edrawings data set in my options. It's a bug but at least there is a workaround

John,

I've just had the very same problem today trying to update a sheet format = CTD repeatable every time - SP3. What you are saying is turn off "Save Edrawing Data" in Options ?

Yup, that's the work around. Tools Options uncheck "Save eDrawings data in SolidWorks document" Not a biggie (with the workaround), although I was pulling my hair out on this a few weeks ago. I should probably leave it unchecked -- checked it must in increase file sizes and save / open times.

Here's the SPR 261886, due to be fixed in Service Pack 4.
