I am trying to make an extruded cut of a rectangular profile into the side of an elliptical solid. I want the cut to go into the side of the solid exactly 2mm. In previous SW versions I was using offset from surface but for some reason I am coming up empty with this one. Any ideas appreciated.

your sketch sould be outside of the solid, use the offset from surface / reverse offset command. also make sure that the cut is pointing toward the solid.
Got it. Thanks. It is somehow more logical to specify the surface and request 2 mm lets say off that surface rather than a reversed surface and go " backwards " Thanks.
