Motive power for Kato passenger cars?

Would the LifeLike FA1B1 be correct motive power for the Kato Union Pacific passenger cars? If not, what would be the possibilities for correct power units?

Electro-Motive E-units would be the best choice. UP had loads of them.

Alco PA's, though not too numerous on Union Pacific, also pulled some of their passenger trains.

UP acquired 3 A-A sets of E-6's in 1940, which were traded in to EMD in 1956 and rebuilt as E-9's. According to a Kato listing, their UP cars include the following for which I have builder data readily available: Baggage UP # 5671 - ACF in 1957 Sleepers American Eagle & American Beauty - ACF in 1942 Coaches UP # 5421 & 5442 - P-S in 1950 Domes UP #7000 & 7007 - ACF in 1955 So except for the baggage car, you could justify running E-6's with the other Kato UP cars and call it late 1955 or early 1956. Have fun, and do what looks good to you. Gary Q

One more for you is the Kato obs, UP # 1575. This car was built by P-S in

1937 for the City of Los Angeles train set powered by the unusual round nosed A-B-B set of EMD E-2's designated LA 1-2-3 . It was originally designated as "Sun Valley", but was re-designated as "1575" in 1955, further supporting possible operation circa '55-'56 behind E-6's. Gary Q

I found a picture on the UP archive site of an E6 ABB pulling these cars, and it looks really neat. Thanks, again.
