MU hose color.

What color do people paint MU hoses? I use poly scale and the engine black seems too black. Grimy black seems to gray and roof brown seems too brown.

I paint mine Sky Blue. That is for easy identification at the club.

When new all the hoses are black. Over time this changes to very dark gray and dirty color. flat black is rirght, grimy black is right and so is anything in between that suits you. Play around with the colors until you get a shade that you like. Start with grimy black and add flat black until it's dark enough.. Mix in a bit of graphite and oil color to contribute that "nasty" look and you should be pleased.

Matt,

I use the Testor/Pactra 'rubber' for tires and m/u hoses. They even have a 'steel' that works great for the couplings on the ends. I bought a couple small bottles of the above stuff years ago and still hav not used it up. The paint was still good when I did 6 engines last week. I wish the Badger/Floquil stuff would last that long on the shelf!
