ETW is pobably best know in these parts as designer of the engine portion of the little WWII 80 watt lightweight charging set, but his achievements in the world of model engineering were legion.

Shame much of the linked info is not actually on line, but what can be accessed is worth reading. I particularly enjoyed the article on the 'Loyal' cycle - isn't that the same system as used on the type 1 'Southall patent' Hardy and Padmore engine?
