an early Cheminitz rotary converter in the USA. I didn't know the principal was understood this early. Any ideas about dating this device?

Kim, you shouldn't tell me about things I cannot buy. "Wechselstrom und Gleichstrom" stands for Alternating current and direct current See
Looking at the brushgear I'd suggest it was into the early 1900's, possibly 1910 or thereabouts.
I don't know if it is a true rotary or just a motor/generator.
