On eBay

I feel that putting this up is not against our established custom. Didn't attract a single bid last time.

Wish I was rich ...........

Now if I can figure out how to fit it in a Norton featherbed frame .....

Look upon it as cheap advertising for their other items.

You need a super wideline, a bit of extra tubing welding in, and a bone graft to lengthen your arms a bit (lot), No problem :-))

Thats the sort of stationary engine I would really like to see cranked up at a rally (er..but not hand cranked methinks)

There's a couple of these that attend rallies. See here

Wow, John ! I must be going to the wrong rallies. I was completely ignorant of this.

I like the engine mounted with prop rear-facing on the trailer. Could be a way to get extra acceleration out of my Land Rover !

I wondered some time ago what happens to engines no longer serviceable for aircraft use - I think their cranks etc have a life of so many hours then are retired. Its interesting to get up close to what in its day was the pinnacle of IC engineering. My father was a fitter on Merlins in the RAF so it would be a treat to drag him along to see them.

Thanks for the link Steve

Background scenery looks familiar... Flookburgh?

Have to wonder whether they'll attempt ground running that turbojet of theirs. Might need good brakes on the trailer...

Cheers, Scruff.

I hope not. As has been discussed here before, the prospect of one of those letting go on a rally field is too frightening. It could so easily be fatal. The consequencies could stop all engine shows.

This Norman SC single fetched good money & wasn't even listed as being in running order.

Natural phenomenon that it may be, the advent of eBay has inevitably driven up the price of engines. I have noticed in the last few months that the ubiquitous Lister D is inexorably rising in price. When trollied, they easily go for £80-£90.

If they float your boat, get one now while they are under a ton as I predict that within a couple of years one in running order mounted on a plank will regularly fetch that sum.

Just my opinion, of course.
