Best since sliced bread?

Looking at the new Bachmann 57 from a DCC point of view, I notice it now has it's own pocket on top of the chassis for taking a chip about the size of a Lenz Gold series, has working lights (at last) NEM coupling boxes, good detail (I'm not aware of any errors yet!) and even features a coupling to the front buffer beam like recent Hornby models....

Have Bachmann sat up and noticed the competition had upped the stakes in some areas?

They haven't added the little gimmicks like the cab doors though or working fans... Not that that bothers me...

What do others think? (My example is 57008 in freightliner which does NOT feature the changing lights)

I`m disapointed there will be little room for a sound decoder. But I will make one fit, even if I have to chop the chasis!

3 link you mean? It is fine piece of work, but mine is coming off and being replaced as I dont think it will handle big loads?

Dont be daft, someone made a mistake and no dought will have been sacked for it by now!

me meither. The driver was pissed off though when he finished his shift and tried to leave. Not only would the door not work, some bugger had glued him onto the seat! And apparently he is in the wrong overalls.

I like the friegthliner better than the virgin one i have and think it will look even better weathered.

I was thinking that, although It makes little difference if it's not on my layout. Maybe a bit of bogie brake dust....

Is the cab correct? I have worked on 47s but I have not seen a 57 close up, let alone been in the cab. Are 57s now fitted with a screen and window to the rear of the cab seats? They're not in a 47 !
