Coarser scale 00 wheels

I've been using Hornby's new metal wheels to replace some old plastic wheels on Triang rolling stock, but they seem to be too fine scale and derail frequently on my new Peco points. Does anyone make any slightly coarser scale metal wheels that will go into Triang and Hornby wagons?

You may need to slightly widen the back-to-back of the wheels. I've had a similar problem.

The new Hornby wheels are fine BUT the back-to-back measurement isn't always spot on. Make sure the back-to-back is set between 14.5 & 15.0mm and they should work well with Peco points.

Interesting you should say that, have swapped a few without problem but just checked some that did recently and they are slightly out. Course that could be cos was heavy handed putting them in.

I always 'gauge' wheelsets (of any make) before fitting them and never have any derailing problems, but the Hornby wheelsets are invariably slightly tight to gauge.

It's not really a problem doing this (especially if you have a specialisty back-to-back gauge) and I would say that Hornby metal coach & wagon wheels always run true and are pretty good value for money.

I've found that with some of the Hornby wheels I've used a slight adjustment fixes it.
