If no one claims it and its not proved to be the proceeds of crime, the finder will be able to claim it. There is a fixed period for the claiming etc to happen in.

As I read it the police can ask for an extension in September. Is there any limit to the number of extensions the police can ask for?
Personally I'd be relieved if someone simply clicked the "pay now" button after winning an auction. It hasn't happened for a very long time now.

A fair chance though - though a visit from some nice men in a BMW is (or could have been if they had not handed it to plod) on the cards. It's unlikely they will pop down the nick to claim it....

The way I read it, it's already more than 3 months since it happened and the Magistrates have been involved so I think an extension has already been granted. The police tallk about a "further" order in September. They're not going to let this one go easily.

It does seem strange that it's taken so long to get hold of the seller and determine the ownership of the cash. I think we've only been given a juicy snippet.

Which reminds me, i see George W. Bush underwent a colonoscopy. I wonder if they found Tony Blair's false teeth or Stephen Harper's wig?
