HMRS 'Pressfix' transfers

Does anyone here have any experience of these, please? Are they easy to use and do they look good when applied? I'm thinking particularly of the lining transfers.

Thanks,

Gavin.

They look good, certainly. The problem I have with the lining transfers is that you can't see that clearly where you're putting them, and once they're down, they're down. Bear in mind that for complex shapes, a miniscule alignment error sticks out like a sore thumb if you're trying to align different bits. Personally, I much prefer Methsfix for general transfers, but for some reason the lining sheets are only available in Pressfix.

The method I use seems to work fine for most lining transfers. Measure/mark out where the lines should run and 'draw' along the line with a fresh scalpel blade and straight edge. Fix your corners first, using the scribed lines as a guide. The rest should be easy as you can stretch the straight lines from corner to corner. The scalpel cuts are invisible under the lining. Fix your loco and tender firmly so that they can't move while you are working, and rest your wrist on a piece of wood or a book so that it is level with your work.

Thanks, Paul, Glanville and Michael for your tips and warnings. Are there any other makes of 4mm lining transfers that you know of which are better and/or easier to use?

Thanks and Happy Christmas,

Gavin.

I find both Fox and ModelMaster transfers good and easy to use. I'm not sure about "better", because they are all very good. Websites at

The 'Best' lining transfers/decal were the SMS ones. I say best having tried all the ones for BR Steam era Passenger or Mixed Traffic that were available. The last of the SMS ones were some of the finest that I have ever seen, even the newer ranges of transfers/decals available now have difficulty in beating them. Yes, I still have plenty! The Modelmaster are the nearest match at the moment.

Have a nice one!!!!!
