Thanks John, Investigating shows the Hornby switches are £5 a go, no way would I go down that route! However I got a couple for 99p off ebay, so this may be a cheaper way of doing it, although Maplin do suitable toggle switches - centre off, non-latching on-off-on type which would do the job.

That's how Triang/Rovex made their money. First you bought a turnout. Then you had to buy a point motor. Then you bought a lever switch. Then you bought a frame for the lever switches. etc etc. It's what I call a 'system railway'.

With Playcraft/Jouef, the turnout had both motor and manual switch built-in and still cost less than Triang-Hornby while the simple push button switches could operate up to four different points.

Hello

I used the Hornby ones for a time but found them to be unreliable, so i changed to the small red bodied ones available from maplins/model shops etc, i have had no problems with them at all, oh yes i do you use point motor CDU unit aswell.
