John, You must have a different magazine to mine, MRJ 153 has an excellent 6 page article on making a Lima Western look like a Western, but not a word about DCC.
But fitting DCC in big Lima diesels is easy, there's a ton of room for the decoder so you can use whatever is cheapest and just rewire between pickups and motor so the connections go through the decoder.
