DCC in n gauge

Has anyone fitted lenz chips into Atlas n gauge such as Class gp40 and 38. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Paul

My local model shop has. Dunno how as I model in HO scale.

Isn't there a Lenz Yahoo Group? I know there's at least one DCC group and they would be the place to get an answer.

There are n-gaugers and even a z-gauger using DCC on the DCCUK Yahoo group. Try asking there.

It's by digitrax, but maybe of some use:

If you're talking about the hardwired chips like the LE055, then any instructions that refer to a DZ series chip from digitrax should also work

- they're very siimilar in size, and for MOST uses interchangable.

There's a good resource here:

(Explore this site - there's LOTS of good stuff here! The sponsoring club was one of the sponsors for the August 2004 N Scale East show at Chantilly, Virginia, USA, the current record holder for the world's largest model railroad layout. They know their stuff.)

One common trick is to wire the decoder to the existing light board, cutting traces where necessary to isolate the motor from the frame. You get the best of both worlds - a "plug & play" type installation that can be easily removed, and a cheaper installation. Functions can usually be wired to the existing lights, as well, again cutting traces as necessary.
