N Guage Store in the center of London

We call them shops in England.

There's Modelzone in Holborn (very close to the tube station) that has a good stock of N Gauge, including continental items. All full price, though.

The original Basset Lowke shop was on the other side of the road and is long gone. I believe Beatties were established before they bought the Basset Lowke shop but it did trade as Beatties for some years before moving across the road to what is now Modelzone. Keith

Modelzone can be quite good for cheap "remaindered" plastic kits (if there is such a concept like there is with books). I've got models of all sorts of weird and wonderful aeroplanes and things because they were 1/3 price or something. I might even build them all eventually....

I've wanted a model of DB kettle 01 008 since a school trip to Bochum, but the cheap Revell 01 kit I picked up when I was passing the other day has the wrong smoke deflectors.

Some Modelzone branches are quite reasonable as general model shops (Croydon), one or two you can have fun by asking a slightly technical question ("is the new X in stock?" is a good one to ask in Sutton) :-)

Surely the rent on an N-gauge store wouldn't be very high even in London? They're only an inch or so wide :o)
