OT?: (Ping John Tuner probably...) Bachmann US models, as advertised in CM

Sorry for jumping in with an OT question.

I've just been reading the Oct. issue of CM (don't normally bother with CM, to much Europain stuff...) and noticed an advert for Bachmann US loco's, their 'On Board' range (page 13a), has there been a mistake in the price quoted or are these models really that cheap (MSRP 29.10 GBP), considering they apparently come ready fitted with DCC decoders...

If the quoted price *is* correct do these models represent great value (thanks presumably to the USD / GBP exchange rate) or are they just a cheap and cheerful 'toy' range - like Tri-ang was?

Cheap and cheerful I'm afraid - I wouldn't consider them and I model Amercian HO.

Thanks John, seems like my assumption about being like the old Tri-ang might not be that far from the mark... :~(

Well, they're considerably bettr than Triang IMO, they're the correct size for one thing. But, like John, I don't consider them serious contenders for a model railroad. Should work nicely under a Christmas tree, though. Like Hornby Thomas engines. :-)
