According to MREMag, Bachmann are/have completely retooled the old Mainline Standard Class 4... I must admit to being a bit surprised at this, as I've not heard anything anywhere about such a project, either here or on the web. Is it actually true?? If so, does it mean Bachmann could be intending to model all the BR standard classes, because they're a long way along that road... ;-)

Well they certainly have not done it yet, although they did re-chassis this some years ago (originally when producing models for Replica Railways).
I guess any re-tooling plans must have been announced at this year's Dealer Open Weekend - which I think was this pas weekend.

The model being referred to is the Standard 4MT 2-6-0 76xxx series loco which was announced in this year's Bachmann catalogue. The Mainline model was a Standard 4MT 4-6-0 75xxx. I don't see how this will be *replacing* the 75xxx, although there's no guarantee that the 4-6-0 will be re-issued.

To the best of my understanding, as discussed on the thread linked, Bachmann now have both 2-6-0 and 4-6-0 4MT BR standards in the pipeline, the latter being announced at the dealer's weekend recently.:-

That's correct, but the pre-production sampled viewed at Barwell over the weekend was the 2-6-0. I guess the 4-6-0 may appear in the next year or so.
