can you upgrade the gun on a small Lincoln MIG machine?

I was welding with a Lincoln SP-135 machine today. I liked a lot of things about it, but I didn't like the gun much although it worked OK. Too stiff, too much plastic, too short. Can one upgrade to a Tweco or Tregaskiss or other gun on these little 110V machines?

yes but the guns costs around $120.

From your experience, Ernie, what is the life span of those light guns that come with Lincoln Welders? I have a 175SP+. When I first got it, I didn't like it, being used to Tweco (IIRC) guns. Felt light and flimsy. Now I like it, mainly because it is very light and flexible. All that matters anyway is the business end of it.

Mine is two years plus now. I definitely have to admit that it has longer than I thought it would at first glance.

My Hobart Handler 120 still has the original OXO gun after 14 years. You just keep replacing liners, tips, diffusers and occasional trigger contacts.

The newer cheap guns aren't as well built as the older OXO guns and Twecos, but they should last at least 10 years if treated decently.

My experience has been this:

If I own it, it lasts 3 to 75 times longer than if an employee uses it.

I wonder why that is...................... ;-)
