Thanks to the group.

Thanks to this group for the help and advice offered to me on my welder purchase. I ended up buying a Lincoln Precision Tig 185 which will be delivered in about 2 weeks. The factory is running about a week behind in shipping so I have to wait. In the mean time, I have ordered two books on welding and am going to start reading and learning. I'm sure I will have some questions! Thanks again.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did it wind up costing you?

Harry, Have you received the welder? If so, what do you think? I am close to ordering the same without the wheels.

Thanks

No, it has not showed up yet. I talked to welding mart about a week ago and they said it would be about 2 weeks before it would ship. They told me that Lincoln cannot keep up with the production of the unit and as of 2 days ago the backorder was up to 1 month! It appears that everybody wants one! I will be sure to post a message when it arrives and give my impressions of it.

Yes, I also spoke to Lincoln. They said that the version without the wheels is coming off the line at about 15 per day and they have a 151 backlog.

thanks Please post when you receive it.

No wonder it is popular. It has a pulser standard. Other than that it looks identical in specs to the Syncrowave 180.

I still think the Thermal Arc Prowave 185TSW is a better machine for the same money, but I am sure it will do nice welds.

We got 2 Lincoln Squarewave 175's at school last year. Very simple machines, but they do nice welds.
