We killed the HF Mig at the range.

Hey guys, As promised, we took the Harborfreight (Chicago Electric) Mig that failed and I got the shaft on to the range. We lucked out. There were a lot of guys there that stopped and asked "Why are you using that as a target?" After explaining and inviting as many guys over as we found willing to indulge in plinking at it (Not too hard to do) Well, I planned on using an AR15 and a Desert Eagle .50 on it but we had wound up with guys with AK47's AR's M14's, M1's and god knows what else they had. A guy with a Barrett .50 BMG, pistols of almost every caliber, shotguns etc. The thing looked like fireplace screen after a few seconds and we really let it have it. There was nothing and I mean NOTHING left to even resemble what it was!!!! I recorded it with my digital camera as an .mpeg and have a lot of stills. I left my camera in my buddies truck as I can't possess firearms in Chicago, I have them in my partner's safe in the suburbs. Once I get the camera over the weekend I will put the photos in the dropbox and I can E-mail the .mpeg (about 7megs and

10min long of good pure Republican fun!) to any of you who need a good laugh. I feel redeemed and my Miller 210 is still chugging away happily and I just waxed all the boxes, Yea, I have issues but I'll dump my girlfriend before my Aerowave or SD180. I now have the 180 wired into a outlet in my Apt under the cook top range in downtown Chicago as I have some small brackets to make in the interim of another spinal surgery. I'm moving to a bigger shop and may hire chassis builders from a failed shop and try to expand the business. (Any good welders in Chicago looking for freelance W-1099 work in a few months?) I don't plan on shooting any more gear by the way.

Thanks for indulging me!

Hey! Libertarians like to shoot stuff, too!

Thanks for sharing and I'm looking forward to pictures.

Does this mean that you'll have to put a sign telling the curious folks outside the HF store what the twisted wreck is?

There was not enough left to put together really. We cleaned up the mess we made and put it into three copier paper boxes. Honest, you would never even know what it was. Since the HF guy got my goat I'll just take the satisfaction in knowing we dispatched it with a bit of prejudice and it got it in satisfaction alone. Not like another machine would have happened anyhow. If I need a portable for the friends I'll just get another Miller

135 or Lincoln portable and at least have a three year warranty I can count on. You get what you pay for. I'm also glad the Libertarians speak up by the way, I found that out Friday. You guys will really enjoy the pics and video. The tracers really made it cool. I just wish I knew who was using them!

Democrats like to shoot things too. Usually Republican things, though. ;)

Reminds me of the scene in "Rancho Deluxe" when shot the hell out the Cadillac with the Sharps 50 buffalo rifles.

Somehow, that sort of thing doesn't amuse me; neither the desire to destroy what one cannot have nor destruction for its own sake.

Hey! No killing the testosterone-induced fun! This is a newsgroup for Real Men(tm). No pantywaists allowed :)

Rob, how's the imagery coming along?

Ya, but the only Democrats that own anything that fires a projectile are too busy doing drive-bys to pay attention to Republican things :)

You never put a firecracker in an old toy that you were tired of?

I put on in the back of a pinecar derby car that I built. It wasn't competitive, so I blew it up... destruction for it's own sake.

Of course I did, but I don't anymore.

Reminds me of when and friend and I made a ballistic missile.. Taped a "D" rocket engine to a M80- cut the fuse off the M80 to light the rocket and I poked a hole in the end of the warhead so the front of the engine could ignite the flash powder at the end of the burn.

We shot it out of a piece of pipe and it *just* made it over the neighbor's roof.. About the time I start thinking "Maybe it's not going to go off, and it's propably better if it doesn't" it goes off spectacularly (I think the rocket starting the powder improved the burn rate, if that's possible, 'cause it was really loud).

The neighbors were all angry but we denied all knowlege, took the Bill Cosby defense; "Some man drove by and threw something out his window, that must have been it..".

Explosions for their own sake, I still like that.. But the destruction of artifacts, simply to destroy them, no longer pleases me. Artifacts are, to me, special. They're what make us special, different from the other animals.

I'll not bore with any more of my philosophy, but that's part of it.

"Pax Americana is a philosophy. Hardly an empire. Making sure other people play nice and dont kill each other (and us) off in job lots is hardly empire building, particularly when you give them self determination under "play nice" rules.

Think of it as having your older brother knock the shit out of you for torturing the cat." Gunner

One of the guys at work grew up in Ireland on a farm. Along with a few other kids, he tied some paper to a crow and set the paper on fire. The crow took off right into his neighbor's barn and set it on fire. That part was not planned... barn burned down to the ground. His father found out and there was hell to pay.
