What do you need to know? Where/how would you plan to acquire the knowledge needed for your new discipline? Typically, novice architectural drafters start at under $10/hr in most regions of the US. ___
DON"T DO IT! ; D
Be prepared for a cut in pay. The box builders on here will likely dispute this but the statistical evidence is there.
You bet! It should go without saying that moving from a field in which one has 10 years experience to on in which one has no experience will mean fewer $$$.
And even for designers of equivalent experience, the architectural field tends to pay less than the mechanical design field, especially if you're moving from a large industrial organization to a smaller architectural design firm. ___
Good advice.
