Hello,

Anyone know how my local library can magnetize and demagnetize their books. The only thing I have seen different on those books is a small piece of paper with a bar code on it. They just pass that on the counter and the book it demagnetize, humm

thanks

There's a device inside the spine of the book.

It is an RFID tag. When you check out the book the computer does not ring the bell when it sees it going out the door... but it still sees it go.

Put it into an aluminium foil, copper foil, lead foil, or what-have-you lined bag to diable the tag if you're so inclined.

So the book is stored in a database, ? id its checked out it sends a message not to ring ? Because I bought a book at the book store and it made the buzzer go off at the library when I was walking out....
