Hi, Do the Williams f1 Racer(#8461), & the 4x4 Off Roader(#8466) have working transmissions? If not, are there any recent (last 5 or 6 years) sets that have working lego transmissions? Thanks, Yo

I can't speak for the Williams F1 car, but the Off Roader (8466) has a working transmission, complete with front/rear wheel differential (it being a 4x4).

Thanks, Now to find one thats fairly affordable!
Hi Richard, Can't speak directly for the Williams #8461, but the Silver Champion # 8458 which looks nearly identical does not have a transmission. Kerry
Yep, the off roader does have one, but the silver chapion doesnt. But, the red supercar has one(dont know the number, just look for "supercar" and its red)
You're refering to the 8448, and yes, it has a four speed gear box. It may be difficult to find the set in the shops, though, as it is fairly old by now.

Fredrik Glöckner's utterance expressed in news: snipped-for-privacy@ulrik.uio.no:
Just bought a 8448 from Estonia - it has almost the same gearbox as the 8466 - _five_ forward and one reverse gear. Btw.. 8448 and 8466 are both absolutely cool vehicles :)

Hello Frederick
No, it has not a 4 gear box but a 6 gear: 5 forward, 1 reverse. The 8880 supercar has a 4 gearbox.

Yes, but to implement this solution, you need to have the specialized transmission elements from a different set. And they are fairly uncommon, if you disregard the large and expensive car models which come with these elements.
