installation pricing

I just rented a one room office in a building that caters to audio post production companies. We all have some expensive equipment in our rooms so almost everyone upgrades the cheap lock that is on our entry doors. There just happens to be a locksmith directly across the street and they have an informal arrangement as "THE" locksmith for the building.

They seem like nice enough guys, but I always wonder about pricing when there is a situation where competition has been sidestepped. I plan on leaving the existing cheapo lockset in place and having them add a single cylinder deadbolt above the existing doorknob. (solid core interior door w/ wood frame)

If we assume a $50 deadbolt material allowance, about how much should the complete job cost? $100?, $150? more? I'm just looking for a ballpark number so that I can evaluate the quote I receive tomorrow.

Thanks!

Easier and more accurate just to get quotes from multiple locksmiths in your own area.

different geographical areas have different prices. we would charge tip charge / day time 35.00 Installation 35.00 Dead-Bolt 28.50 and up (depends on type)

note; keep in mind the agreement that that owner of the building has with his locksmith. he may have good reason for you to use his Locksmith.

g'day

Service call 59.50 Schlage BC 160P 605 38.00 Installation 42.00

Before you decide what should be done you should get some input from the locksmith! He is the pro. A good smith can give you options you would never think of. And remember a lock is only as good as the door it is on. We use a good commercial deadbolt that can be setup to any keyway. Single cylinder is about 48.00. New installation steel door, wood frame is .96 hr. @ 45.00 per = 43.20 + service call 35.00 Ron, Ron's Lock & Key
