Looking for pipe design software

Jun 22, 2004 2 Replies

Looking for piping (pressure drop) software that can handle single= and two-phase fluid flows (gas/liquid) and also handle leaks between two pipes, and their effect on flowrates.

Thanks in advance for any references. Shareware/free or demo would be great.

Possibly Cosmos. Has a very good fluid dymanics package. Am not sure about dual phase, however. FloWorks is excellent, but I believe only works within SolidWorks environment. Don't know what your 3D MCAD is, but SolidWorks also has a "Routing" add-in (formerly "Piping" simply, but now also handles other kinds of routing like electrical wiring).

If you are looking for a software package that can handle single phase flow, then I would recommend Flownex. It's fast, very accurate and user-friendly. If you are looking for a multi-phase flow package, I would recommend Sinda Fluent. Their package can handle up to 3 fluids, in 3 dimensions. You can download an evaluation version from their website!
