bore guages

Hi all,

I am trying to find some bore guages. Earlier this year, one of the items that was stolen when my workshop was broken into was a set of bore guages, but my efforts to find a replacement have been fruitless, as companies cannot relate my description to the product. Perhaps anyone else here can help along with suggestion as to where I may get them.

The actual guage is like in inverted T shape, split along the length, to allow the cross of the T to move laterally. The cross of the T when look from the end was circular (but when split, it is two semi-circular parts). A clock guage is inserted into the length of the T. The idea being that as the cross is split, any compression of the two halves togethor (when checking the bore) will press on the clock shaft.

The idea is that you get a reading, that you can then duplicate using a micrometer or a measured diameter.

Anyone have any ideas?

Best regards, Dave Colliver.

Nope. I already asked chronos and they don't know what I mean.

Those, you stick in a hole, twist the end to lock, then measure on a mic. The end are telescopic.

The ones I had were basically a circle (where the ends are telecopic) and where the twist to tighten, mine you inserted a DTI type clock.

Look on ebay under micrometers. Look like some of them could fit your description.

Tim and Mark,

Almost, but not quite.

These look similar to the ones suggested by Andrew but with a dial guage.

I thought of a probably better description of the guage itself...

Think of a golf tee but the stalk is much broader. Split the tee down its length from the fat end (but not all the way), then drill a hole down the center from the pointy end.

I had half a dozen or so of these in one box with one dial. The dial was inserted into the hole down the center of the guage.

I don't have the warco catalogue so unfortunately, I can't see them. :-(

Thanks for your assistance.

Best regards, Dave Colliver.
