Well, it kind of answers a question for me. I was given a tap and die set recently (from Aldi, I think). I tried the M8 tap and the hole was waay tight. I think it must be dimensionally the intermediate of a series tap series tap.
In fact, it turned out to be useful, because it made some nice "stiff" holes and saved me doing a bit of brazing.
