Duplicating a part

Hello,

I have 2 parts that are very similar with different part numbers.

I created the 1st part and I need to save time by recreating the second part and making the minor changes.

How do I go about creating the 2nd part form the first?

Using Wildfire 3

Thank you.

If you use an Intralink you can do that by Object->duplicate objects in your workspace.

creating two instances (variants) from a generic part was the most elegant method to do this back in 2001 ... don´t know about WF3, though - but I guess the functionality is still there anywhere.

Copy and paste in windows explorer.

I assume you mean that you have a part and drawing for which you want to make an unrelated similar. Then copy and paste the part and drawing into an empty directory, erase everything in session and open these files, rename the part, make the changes and save.

If the drawing name is the same as the part (or assembly) name you can also set the config option rename_drawings_with_object and Save a Copy of the model.
